Attending the Transition Year Teacher Professional Network Conference (TY TPN) was an incredible opportunity to connect with TY Coordinators from across the country on Saturday at the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone . These educators play a vital role in shaping the Transition Year experience, and it was fascinating to hear their thoughts on the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence in education.
The Growing Interest in AI
As I spoke with TY Coordinators, one thing became clear—there is a strong curiosity about AI and how it can be integrated into the TY curriculum. Many educators recognise that AI is transforming the way we work and learn, but they also raised important questions: How can we teach AI in an engaging way? How do we ensure students understand both the benefits and ethical challenges of AI?
AI Unleashed – Bridging the Gap
These conversations reinforced why we created AI Unleashed. Our workshop is designed to make AI accessible and exciting for students, demystifying complex concepts through hands-on activities and real-world applications. Many TY Coordinators were particularly interested in how AI Unleashed can:
Introduce students to machine learning and neural networks without overwhelming them.
Encourage critical thinking about AI’s role in society.
Provide interactive experiences that make learning AI fun and engaging.
TY Coordinators Leading the Way
It was inspiring to see how dedicated TY Coordinators are to preparing students for the future. Many are actively seeking innovative ways to bring technology, problem-solving, and creativity into their TY programmes. AI is no longer just a subject for computer science students—it’s becoming a fundamental part of education across all disciplines.
Looking Ahead
The TY TPN Conference made it clear that there is a real demand for AI-focused learning experiences. Schools want to equip students with the skills and knowledge to navigate an AI-driven world, and AI Unleashed is ready to meet that demand.
If you're a TY Coordinator looking to introduce AI to your students in a way that is fun, engaging, and relevant, get in touch! Let’s work together to bring AI education into the heart of Transition Year.
